    This article attempts to identify and compile a list of the earliest Malaysian historical journals. The study found that the earliest historical journal is Journal of the Indian Archipelago and Eastern Asia published in 1847 by James Richardson Logan, a well-known lawyer and journalist from the Straits Settlement, British Malaya. On the whole, between 1847 till 1966, as many as ten Malaysian historical journals were published by various history-related institutions, associations and individuals. Some of these publications are still actively publishing their journal while others had ceased issuing their journals

    Acknowledgement Patterns in Research Articles: a Bibliometric Study based on Journal of Natural Rubber Research 1986-1997

    Analyses the acknowledgements included in the research articles and short communications published in Journal of Natural Rubber Research (1986-1997) in respect of types, frequency of occurrence, individuals acknowledged, etc. Results indicate that 74% items contain acknowledgements; an average acknowledgement per item is 2.2; the most common type of acknowledgments relates to technical support. Peer interactive communication accounts for 44% of the total acknowledgements. The result of the study substantiates the earlier findings that a small number of individuals are highly acknowledged and the rest are acknowledged infrequently

    Using the survey methodology, this study explores the reading habits and interests of form four students from SMK Hulu Kelang, Gombak, Selangor. The results of the study revealed that 27 students (39.13%) spent one to two hours reading daily. The main source of reading material for 28 students (40.58%) is from the Internet. About 42.03% of the students buy the reading materials themselves and they primarily read for leisure (30.43%). A total of 47.83% read in the Malay language. The students themselves (52.17%) are their motivators for reading. The students (97.10%) are aware of the importance of reading and 57.97% agreed that the Nilam Programme, a nationwide reading programme run by the school, had succeeded in inculcating the reading habit in them

    The Journal of Natural Rubber Research, published by the Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia since 1929, has played a key role in the dissemination of natural rubber information all over the world. This paper analyses the authorship pattern, the range and frequency of references cited, the extent of acknowledgement and appendix or appendices being included in research articles of natural rubber, the types of collaborative research in natural rubber and the international collaboration scenario as portrayed in the Journal. Results indicated that the trend is towards multi-authorship and a high degree of collaboration between natural rubber researchers
